Prior to this week's readings, I had not even heard of virtual internships. I have been plagued with taking six classes this semester and have not had an opportunity to get an internship. I also have to take two summer classes, so finding out that there's such a thing as a virtual internship is a great opportunity. This opens so many doors careerwise.
Having a virtual internship can help people who do not have the capability of being somewhere everyday in person. This cuts down on the cost of transportation, food, etc. for the intern. That is also another concern of mine. As a college student I do not have a lot of money. I have a retail job that I work once a month, but it definitely would not support me going into Philly for however many days a week. With a virtual internship, this would not be a problem. The work would get done right in your home.
Tweeting for an internship is also something I had never heard of. It's crazy to think that a company can narrow their search down just by 13 tweets! I think having more companies do this would be beneficial. It lets people be creative and that is important especially in the Writing Arts field.
